Our Story

This is myself Anthony along with Liz and our children Joe & Ella; walking in one of our favourite spots, Rhosneigr Beach. We are the people behind Escape Cottages – it’s always good to know who you’re booking with.

Escape Cottages is the evolution of our family business, started in 2013.

Ty Carmel was where it all started for us, when we first set eyes upon a abandoned and derelict former farmhouse and decided to try and create a place to enjoy ourselves but to welcome guests to do the same.

I have worked in the Self-Catering industry for over 15 years and coupled with Liz’s natural flare for interior design we thought we’d make a good team, able to create spaces for people to enjoy and make happy memories themselves. 

We opened the doors in Easter 2015 and have not looked back since.

We pride ourselves are delivering a high level or satisfaction from the product we deliver to the customer service before, during and following your stay.

Ty Carmel – Rebuild

Having first set eyes on what was then known as Prys Owain Fawr (the adjacent farm retained this name) on a VERY cold and wet January morning in 2013, a mixture of naivety and bravery in equal measure lead us to become the proud owners of a complete wreck some 6 months later. 

Upon discovering the roof was in an imminent state of collapse, asbestos was on site and the place was home to bats, owls & sparrowhawks, it quickly became clear that this was going to require more than a lick of paint.

It was an continues to be a labour of love, and we’re proud of what we have created.
